ICOS Atmosphere has just released its first FastTrack 2024.3 release for CO2, CH4, N2O and CO. This is an important step in operationally producing high-quality greenhouse gas data at a higher frequency than the current annual final quality controlled releases (level 2) around mid-summer.
As a next step, the station principal investigators (PIs) and ICOS Atmosphere Thematic Center (ATC) will add three additional data releases starting from the end of the data in the latest level 2 release. This will replace the 24-hour delay automatically controlled near real-time data (level 1) with PI quality controlled data with just 2-month delay instead of the current maximum 12-month delay. This first release is available with DOI https://doi.org/10.18160/S9BD-H5YY.
The ICOS Carbon Portal also produced updated European Obspack products for the ICOS stations that combines historical data (going back to as far as 1972), ICOS Level 2, ICOS FastTrack and ICOS near-real-time data for all the gases. The DOIs for these data products are for CO2: https://doi.org/10.18160/85D0-RCDQ; for CH4: https://doi.org/10.18160/XSBE-Q6R1; for N2O: https://doi.org/10.18160/BB32-E5TQ.
Once per year, the ICOS Atmosphere Thematic Centre and the station PIs will update the atmospheric greenhouse gas data for non-ICOS stations. This will be released as a combined data product for ICOS and non-ICOS stations, such as the European Obspack release.
