ICOS is taking part in the new EU Horizon 2020 project European Research Infrastructures in the International Landscape (RISCAPE).
RISCAPE kickoff meeting from 30th-31st January 2017 in Helsinki was an opportunity for 25 representatives from 11 different Research Infrastructures across Europe to meet and begin the collaboration.
RISCAPE is a three year project, from January 2017 to January 2020, with a budget of 2 million euros, funded by the European Commission in the framework of the Horizon 2020 programme. The project is coordinated by Ari Asmi (University of Helsinki).
This multidisciplinary project includes 11 European research institutes in the field of environmental sciences, medicine, physics, astronomy, social sciences, culture, research, energy research and computational science. The main goal of the RISCAPE is to provide an international Landscape Analysis of Research Infrastructures for the use of European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI), European Commission, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and national or regional funding agencies.
As ICOS is one of the first ERICs in the environmental domain, coordinating infrastructure of the ENVRI PLUS RI cluster and a member of several international research infrastructure collaboration activities, it will act as a specialist in the project's environmental sector.
