ICOS ERIC is coordinating the new EU H2020 project RINGO, ’Readiness of ICOS for Necessities of Integrated Global Observations’, which aims to further develop and foster sustainability of the ICOS Research Infrastructure (ICOS RI) and the ICOS European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ICOS ERIC).
The project was officially launched in Kirchhoff Institute for Physics in Heidelberg, Germany, on 21st February 2017. The Kickoff meeting gathered together representatives from 26 partner organisations to discuss the activities, organisation and management of the four-year project, funded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 programme.
ICOS ERIC DG and RINGO coordinator Werner Kutsch together with Work Package Leaders opened the Kickoff with welcoming remarks and introduction to RINGO concept and aims, followed by discussion and introduction to tasks, risks and Work Packages. The three-day kickoff also included meetings on Work Package strategies, project management as well as dissemination and exploitation actions.
RINGO aims at further development of ICOS RI and ICOS ERIC by focusing on the RI’s scientific, geographical, technological, data-related as well as political and administrative readiness to further strengthen the quality of operations and the level of impact.
