An important part of the provenance of data for ICOS is the storage of all data and its associated metadata at a trusted repository. In order to make this fully traceable and transparant and also easy we propose a common approach through the carbon portal, where all data, from level 0 to level 3 is submitted. Submission can be done by Thematic Centers, PI's or external data providers through an automated process or through a web interface. Each uploaded data file will be registered and assigned a PID, that leads to a data landing page where the data and its associated metadata can be retrieved, and all transactions will be logged in a versioned database.
At the workshop we will present the prototype service and its use and we will discuss the data types and their metadata structure that CP will have to support.
