The Urban Greenhouse Gas Conference and Stakeholder Summit in April 2025 in Geneva will showcase the latest findings on urban greenhouse gas research, while bringing together scientists and city stakeholders. The first two days are dedicated to scientific topics, and the last day is for connecting science and city stakeholders.
DATE: 7-9 April 2025
VENUE: World Meteorological Organisation head quarters in Geneva, Switzerland (and online)
REGISTRATION & AGENDA: WMO website
Registration closes on 31st of March 2025.
The event is jointly hosted by the ICOS Cities project and WMO Integrated Global Greenhouse Gas Information System (IG3IS).
Event Highlights
• Showcase the latest findings from urban greenhouse gas researchers
• Workshop sessions to review and finalise the draft IG3IS Urban Good Practice Guidelines
• Dedicated day to connect scientists and city stakeholders
The first two days will be a mix of scientific sessions where urban greenhouse gas researchers present their latest findings, in addition to reviewing and finalising the draft IG3IS Urban Good Practice Guidelines.
The first two days of scientific topics will include:
- Process models for evaluation of urban emission including advanced inventories,
- Direct atmospheric observational approaches to evaluate urban emissions,
- Computational modelling methods, including mass balance and forward and inverse modelling,
- Data products and communication and presentation of urban greenhouse gas data,
- Presentation of case studies.
The third day is specifically intended to connect science and city stakeholders, and will consist of talks, panel discussions and engagement activities:
- Co-design and co-creation of information for urban mitigation - fostering collaboration among researchers, policymakers, and practitioners
- How robust, transparent, and high-quality greenhouse data enhances urban decision-making
- Opportunities to resolve greenhouse gas information gaps in cities that hinder effective climate action
- Integration of greenhouse gas emission mitigation and air quality - how cities can develop integrated approaches that address both climate change and air pollution, improving urban air quality and public health outcomes
- The deadline for registration is 31 March 2025 - register here: WMO website
