WMO & NUBICOS Summer School 2024

19 August 2024 to 24 August 2024
WMO & NUBICOS

The 7th ICOS Summer School is jointly organised by the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) and the ICOS-coordinated Horizon Europe project New Users for a Better ICOS (NUBICOS).

In June 2024, the WMO Executive Council approved the Global Greenhouse Gas Watch (G3W) implementation plan. The G3W aims at filling critical information gaps and provides an integrated, operational framework that brings together all observing systems, as well as modelling and data assimilation capabilities in relation to greenhouse gas.

With this goal in mind, this year’s ICOS Summer School welcomes 20 participants from Armenia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Moldova, Morocco, Panama, Peru and South Africa, with the aim of enhancing observations and modelling of GHG and data utilisation in those countries.

The Summer School comprises of interactive lectures, excursions to field sites and hands-on modelling exercises. Attendees will gain a broad overview and deep understanding of the field having gained a deep insight in the most recent knowledge on climate change and the role of the carbon cycle and natural fluxes of greenhouse gases in climate feedbacks.

The in-person Summer School will take place in Wageningen, the Netherlands, for one week, from 19th-24th August 2024.

Admissions for this year’s Summer School are closed.
