In 2025 ICOS will organise the already 8th edition of the ICOS Summer School. It will be held at the completely renewed facilities of the Hyytiälä forest field station in Finland from Monday 5 May until Thursday 15 May 2025.
We are pleased to announce that 35 successful applicants have now been offered a place at the 8th ICOS Summer School!
The 8th ICOS Summer School will welcome 35 participants from 16 countries: Belgium, Brazil, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
All applicants have been informed of their application results by email.
The International Conference on Research Infrastructures (ICRI) is a high-level stakeholder forum for the global research infrastructure (RI) community to discuss the role of RIs in tackling some of the world’s most pressing challenges. This year’s conference, held in Brisbane, focused on climate change and sustainability as central themes in the global research agenda.
ICOS would not be ICOS without the work and collaboration that takes place across member institutions and countries. Making sure that our community can be sustained for the long term is therefore an important task for the research infrastructure (RI).
The 7th ICOS Summer School – which took place in August 2024 in Wageningen, the Netherlands - was a summer school with a twist. This year’s Summer School was a collaboration between the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) and the ICOS-coordinated Horizon Europe project NUBICOS.
Faced with all too frequent crises induced by climate change like droughts, wildfires and floods, the need for high-quality science that serves society is more acute than ever. Over the past 15 years, ICOS has developed from an implementation phase to today’s operational phase facilitating frontier research on greenhouse gas (GHG) observations. ICOS provides advanced services and scientific evidence for knowledge-based policy decisions in Europe. Beyond Europe, ICOS is a globally recognised environmental Research Infrastructure within the ESFRI framework.
